Finance business partnering is more than a label and creates many challenges. Overcoming historical “them and us” barriers and to work as partners requires us to think about how we interact with management as a team and as individuals and the skills we need to possess. Furthermore, creating the time to be an effective partner is also challenging whilst still managing day to day accounting operations. We consider what should a great business partner be focused on, what do managers value, how should we structure and operate and can we streamline our core processes to create more time and value directed towards partnering.
WHAT WILL YOU GET OUT OF IT?
An understanding of partnering principles and structures that have been successful and an appreciation of the skills required to become a good finance business partner; understand the importance of human factors in partnering and how we are seen as individuals and team players; techniques to assess opportunities to improve finance processes to make them leaner and more attuned to management need.
