There is lots changing in the world of audit. Auditing standards continue to change and there’s also a plethora of feedback from professional bodies to take on board. We will highlight all the important changes in this area and what auditors need to do to comply. Exact content will depend on what is topical at the time of the session but is likely to include:

• ISA changes in 2025/6 – what they mean in practice
• The impact of recent FRC guidance on smaller entity audits
• Common problem issues on files and how to address them
• ICAEW and FRC feedback on audit quality
• Update on recent changes to Audit Regulations
• Common ethical queries – and how to address them

James Charlton

James is an experienced trainer specialising in financial reporting, audit and the charity sector. James also has experience in the banking and insurance sectors. He brings energy and interactivity to every course that he delivers.

James worked in the audit technical team at a national mid-tier firm before becoming an independent training consultant, providing financial reporting and audit technical advice to the audit and accountancy departments, writing and reviewing technical materials for the practice, and performing engagement quality control reviews on audit files

Waqas Hussain

Waqas Hussain is the Lead Senior Compliance Officer with an extensive background in public practice. Waqas leads the team of Senior Compliance Officers who complete audit monitoring reviews where we will review the firm’s work and identify any deficiencies, and ensure that you are complying with relevant standards, ACCA’s Global Practising Regulations and the Code of Ethics and Conduct.

ACCA members can use this learning to meet their CPD requirements provided it is relevant to their career. If the event contributes to general knowledge and skills, it should be recorded as non-verifiable CPD. If the learning can be applied in the workplace, it will contribute to verifiable CPD.
